Vahid Taremi is an Iranian composer and a skilled player of traditional Iranian instruments such as the Tar, Setar, and Shurangiz. He was born in 1987 and has established himself as a notable figure in the world of Persian music.
Taremi pursued his education at the Islamic Azad University, Tehran North Branch, where he earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Persian Literature. Additionally, he attended the Tehran Conservatory of Music from 2006 to 2009, focusing on playing Iranian instruments.
Throughout his career, Taremi has gained extensive teaching experience. He has taught at various institutions, including Farhang & Honar University 46, Shahid Beheshti University, Tarbiat Modares University, Nafir Artistic and Cultural Institute, Javan Cultural Center, and the Center of open courses/Soureh Institute of Graduate Studies.
As a composer, Taremi has published several notable compositions. In 2019, he contributed to the music album "Little Black Fish" as a composer, which was released by the HaftCraft label in Belgium. In 2016, he also improvised a piece for the music album "Khayyam Khani" released by RAHA records. His other compositions include the music albums "Shahre Sangestan" (2012) and "Khan-e-Hashtom" (2010), where he served as a composer and conductor. Furthermore, he was involved in the collaborative project "Self-Portrait" in 2009, providing his compositional skills.
Vahid’s musical accomplishments extend well beyond his composition work. He has graced the stages of numerous concerts worldwide, leaving a mark with each performance. Notable highlights in his career include The Phoenix at the Oxford International Song Festival in 2023, where he shone as a Shurangiz soloist, sharing the stage with a piano, cello, soprano, and baritone at the prestigious Holywell Music Room.
In 2021, Vahid was featured as a Shurangiz soloist in the Maah-o-Nava online festival, where he dazzled the audience with his remarkable improvisation skills, incorporating the kamanche, percussion, and his vocal talents. In 2020, he was a vital part of the Sipa Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia, as a shurangiz player with the Triangle Ensemble (Trio). The previous year, in 2019, he graced the stage at the Glasperlenspiel Festival in Tartu, Estonia, showcasing his musical prowess as part of the Haftcraft Band.
Vahid’s talents have also been appreciated in various international settings, including performances in Belgium, China, United Kingdom and Iran, where he consistently demonstrated his abilities as a composer and musician.
Vahid has made significant contributions to radio, television, and cinema. He served as a music critic and analyzer on various programs, including "Arghanoun," "Karaneh," and "Taranom." He also wrote music for films such as "A Report from Manaslu" (2015), "The Deteriorating World of Natia" (2013), and "Door Masho" (2014), as well as documentaries and TV series.
His contributions also extend to the theater, where he has composed music for several productions. Notable works include "Afsoone Parizad" (2009), "Shab Kouche Eshgh" (2008), "Az o Be Yek Eshare" (2007), "Setare Kouchouloo" (2007), and "Istgah" (2006), collaborating with esteemed directors and playwrights.
